Mission Statement

The Southern Acadiana Law Enforcement Community was founded in August of 1995 for the purpose of cultivating a spirit of community pride by uniting the Law Enforcement Officers of Iberia, St. Mary, St. Martin and Vermillion Parishes. Once united, we began to work as a group within our communities to establish a much needed BOND between Law Enforcement and the communities we serve.

As our logo states, "Pride Through Unity". That is what we are striving for, and we will not fall short.

Membership

Our membership currently consists of retired and active Law Enforcement officers from the following agencies:

New Iberia Police Department

Jeanerette Police Department

Chitimacha Tribal Police Department

Gueydan Police Department

Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office

Louisiana Department Of Corrections, Probation and Parole

Louisiana State Police

Community Involvement

Our membership is very diversified into the different jurisdictional aspects of the Law Enforcement Profession. They are also involved in many other social and civic organizations. This combination allows us the ability to work with many different elements within our communities.

The following is a short list of some activities that we have been involved in:

Sponsored the local Police Memorial Day Service

Toys for Tots, co-sponsor

Sugarland Optimist Club's Summer Pro-Football camp

Assisting the Safety Net for Abused Persons

Thanksgiving Day food baskets

Christmas presents for needy children

We have also honored a young resident with Honorary Police Officer status. This young man is a quadriplegic and had always dreamed of becoming a member of our profession. Read more about Lenny and see some pictures.
